The Meaning of May: Emmett Lee King
Last year as I was planning monthly content for Kingsskid I decided that May would be a month that is dedicated to Emmett Lee King. Emmett Lee Kings was my grandfather before I was ever a daddy's girl I was a grandfather's girl. There would be no T'Edra, no Kingsskid without Emmett Lee King, and the lessons he instilled within me as a young girl growing up are the lessons that I crown others with on this journey we call life.
My grandfather taught us so many lessons:
He taught us to have confidence in ourselves
He instilled in us the importance of getting an education
He showed us the importance of effective money management skills
He believed in honesty even if it stung a little
He displayed the spirit of excellence in his teaching
He believed in spoiling us all on our birthdays and every other holiday
Good behavior was rewarded- bad behavior was corrected
He knew the importance of the quote "picture has a thousand words" - he believed that you should track your journeys with pictures
He modeled what it meant to show up for those you love, he never missed any of my award ceremonies -with his camera.
As you can see there are many lessons that "Paw-Paw" taught us along the way and I take this month to honor him and use my life to honor him. I will take you along the journey of dropping the jewels that my Paw-Paw dropped me with.
Kingsskid wasn't created because it is trendy- Kingsskid is personal to me- Kingsskid came at a time when I forgot all of those lessons and felt lost in the world sauce and one day I had to remind myself who I was I was the Kingsskid.
Have you ever wondered why Kingsskid has two "s"?
Answer: The first "s" symbolizes that I am Christ first. The second "s" honors my grandfather and to never forget the lessons he crowned me with.
Cheers to the celebration of the life, legacy, and jewels dropped by Emmett Lee King.
