Get Out The Box
Psalm 23: 1-6
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, and he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever
I remember a few years I wore an outfit to work.
This outfit was not the original outfit that I planned to wear, five minutes before walking out the door I changed my shirt. I was still a tad bit self-conscious about my outfit but I wore it with confidence.
When my hair is styled in Marley Twist, I usually wear it in a bun- I think it is more conservative. I work in Corporate America so I try my best to keep it trendy and professional.
Ironically, the day I wore this outfit was the day I received many compliments on both my hair and my outfit.
I left work that day with a very profound thought.
Sometimes we are in a box thinking that society put the box around us when in actuality we put ourselves in the box.
My co-workers loved my outfit and my outfit gave them ideas for their outfits that they could wear.
My co-workers are either asking me to wear my hair down or to wear a bun.
Whether it is your hair or your outfit, OWN IT, do not limit yourself, there are plenty of people doing that for you!
You, on the other hand, should:
Celebrate and appreciate the compliments
Say thank you
Smile
Break down the box that you put on yourself
God did not create us to live in a box, he created us to fulfill a promise, to do greater things, to lead like him, love like him and serve like him.
He promised to carry us because he knew that the journey of fulfilling our promise will not be easy
He promised to cover and protect us from harm and danger
He promised to crown us with love and peace
It is our job to be OBEDIENT and TRUST HIM THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.
So my questions to you are:
WILL YOU GET OUT OF THE BOX?
WILL YOU TRUST HIM?
