Work Like A Dog Day
August 5 is known as work like a dog day- the day is to work hard and to honor people who work day and night and who are very productive. I am a proud pawrent to a pitbull name Quinn. In this blog, I will share the jewels that my dog has crowned me with as he continues to work hard to protect the home that we can use in our lives personally and professionally.
Jewel #1: Play: Before we got Quinn if Ed was working that was time for me work and get as much work done as possible. Quinn loves to play, he has a way of making you play with him. He allows me to work, but he gives me the constant reminder that I cannot be all work and no play he provides balance when Ed is not here. I now play a lot more and enjoy playing those play breaks allow me to come back to my work more focused.
Jewel #2: Rest: Now when playtime is over it is over, Quinn isn't afraid to let you know. He will stop, he would leave the toy wherever it is and potentially walk away, leaving you there with his toys. haha! Quinn has plenty of places where he loves to rest but when we rest, we rest and oh how I love resting.
Jewel #3: Unbothered By The Noise: As we walk Quinn around the neighborhood, other dogs are barking at him which is normal but Quinn walks as if he doesn't even hear them or see them. Quinn continues to walk with his head held high. This is a reminder for us not to be bothered by the small stuff or even people.
Jewel #4: Protector: This is Ed's post of Quinn: He makes sure you are safe, he stands at attention when he hears the smallest noise. His resilience in making sure we are okay transcends any playtime, eats time, sleep time, and anytime. His first job is always making sure we are safe. A reminder for us to protect those in which we are designated to.
With having Quinn, I see so many parallels as to how God deals with us. For example, Quinn sometimes loves things that are not good for him (small bones) and he will whine, cry, and shift from me to Ed to make sure we see him. Just as we cry for things we want and desire, we will whine, cry, and catch an attitude with God only to realize that he does not just see us but he sees our future.
